Hi! My name is Darcie.
I’m an early-thirties-something year old lady. I’m originally from central Illinois, and I spent the majority of my 20s [seven years!] in St. Louis. These days, I call Nashville my home.
Writing “About Me” pages is not one of my talents. So I’ll resort to the trusty bulleted list:
+ By day, I’m an IT “professional.” By night, I can usually be found blowing up the kitchen with my baking experiments.
+ Baking is by far my most favorite hobby, but I figured you probably already gathered that much. Funnily enough, I began baking as a hobby in 7th grade because I had [and still have] a ridiculous sweet tooth. And since then, it’s just evolved into 10+ years’ worth of trials and errors. This fact does not make me an expert in any sense of the word. It just means that I like to make and eat delicious butter/flour/sugar-laden foods.
+ I have dealt with severe depression [bipolar II disorder with a few comorbid disorders] for over a decade, and I am very open about my mental health struggles. I consider myself a mental health advocate, so you will see posts about mental health on this blog from time to time.
+ Think of nearly any creative endeavor – art, crafts, graphic design, photography – you name it, and I probably have some kind of interest in it.
+ I’m a natural redhead. I love everything about this fact [though I used to hate it], except for that whole prone-to-severe-sun-burns issue.
+ Mint green is my favorite color. I even have a mint green [“pistachio” is the official color] KitchenAid Artisan Stand mixer. Her name is Pollie.
+ Humor is one of my favorite aspects of being a human. And I’ll be honest, I’m probably one of the most goofy + easily amused people on the planet; I laugh at just about anything.
+ In my spare time, I like to read [cookbooks in particular], explore, think way too much about anything and everything, play around with graphic and web design, etc.
+ I like making lists, but I consider my personality “type A-.” As in, I have many type A tendencies, but I’m too laid back to actually get worked up over most things.
